Do you want to have your say in the future direction of the Electorate of Nicholls?
Around Australia the cost of living, climate change, energy and water efficiency, housing, tax
reform, health, youth mental health and women’s safety are emerging as priorities for
Independents. We are conducting a series of community conversations and these and other
issues are emerging and will likely form the basis for policy positions that can be developed
with our support.
We are a group (incorporated body) meeting regularly and engaging widely across the
electorate as we create the conditions for success for an Independent candidate for the Nicholls
Electorate.
Unfortunately we are not in a position to endorse an independent candidate for the upcoming
election. Our aim is now to grow the movement, hold our current political representative to
account and be ready to go for the 2028 election. We are learning from other independent
groups in other electorates and supporting their efforts to help us be well prepared for what
it will take to make Nicholls independent, and better represent the views and priorities of
our community.
Rob Priestly was so very close at the 2022 election (a 25 per cent swing bringing him
within 599 first preference votes). Nicholls is considered one of the most promising
electorates in the country by the Community Independents movement.
Momentum is growing around the country and we urge you to have your say through
our community survey of what matters in good political representation.
